The below list has been vetted by the SPS district technology team, as well as evaluated for how well they align with our teaching and learning pedagogy.  Teachers may assign independent and small group work through these online resources.  Students may also use these resources for independent work and enrichment.

Khan Academy
A huge amount of free lessons and classes in topics, along with a kid-focused section. This includes specially written daily lesson plans for 2-18-year-olds.

Science Generation (SciGen) addresses science topics commonly taught to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. These curricular materials can be used in place of the standard curriculum materials, or as a supplement.

Social Studies

Teaching History
Teachinghistory.org is designed to help K–12 history teachers access resources and materials to improve U.S. history education in the classroom. With funding from the U.S. Department of Education, the Center for History and New Media (CHNM) has created Teachinghistory.org with the goal of making history content, teaching strategies, resources, and research accessible
Social Studies Generation
Social Studies Generation (SocGen) is comprised of three six-week sequences around topics commonly included in 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade social studies content standards. These curricular materials can be used in place of the standard curriculum materials, or as a supplement. They provide opportunities to read, write, discuss, and build arguments about central concepts in social studies.
